CHLUMIAO® 168 Usage

The antioxidant 168 is a phosphite antioxidant with good compatibility, low volatility, good hydrolysis resistance and high thermal stability. When used in combination with hindered phenol antioxidants and aromatic amine antioxidants, it produces an excellent synergistic effect. The phosphite ester in the composition is used as an auxiliary antioxidant, which does not provide long-term thermal and oxygen stability, and is used in combination with hindered phenol antioxidants to ensure long-term antioxidant efficacy. Suitable for polyester, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyurethane, polyamide, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate, adhesives, elastomers. The general dosage is 0.1-0.5%.

 

Antioxidant 168 is suitable for use in: polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyester and polyamide products. It is particularly suitable for polyolefins, styrene mono- and copolymers, elastomers, adhesives, engineering plastics (e.g. PE, PP, PVC, PS, polyamide, polycarbonate, ABS) and other polymers.

Antioxidant 168 Application scenarios

1. Processing Stability of Polyolefin Products:

Used for injection molded parts, pipes, films, and fibers made from polyethylene (LDPE, HDPE, LLDPE), polypropylene (homopolymer/copolymer), and olefin copolymers (such as EVA). It inhibits thermo-oxidative degradation during processing, maintaining melt stability and mechanical properties. Suitable for extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, and other processes. Also applicable to carbon black-filled systems.

2. High-Temperature Processing of Engineering Plastics:

Compatible with polycarbonate (PC), polyamide (PA6, PA66), polyester (PET, PBT), and polyoxymethylene (POM). Prevents thermal degradation and yellowing during high-temperature extrusion and injection molding, maintaining material transparency, mechanical properties, and appearance. Suitable for automotive parts, electronic connectors, and other high-temperature components.

3. Styrene and ABS Resins:

Applied to polystyrene (PS), high-impact polystyrene (HIPS), and ABS. Inhibits thermo-oxidative aging, maintaining product appearance and mechanical properties. Suitable for injection/extrusion molded products such as electronic casings and household appliance components.

4. Elastomers and Rubber Products:

Used in natural rubber, synthetic rubber (such as EPDM, SBS, SEBS), and elastomers to prevent oxidative aging during processing, storage, and use. Suitable for tires, seals, hoses, and other products, offering good extraction resistance.

5. Adhesives and Hot Melt Adhesives:

As an auxiliary antioxidant additive in adhesives, hot melt adhesives, and pressure-sensitive adhesives, it inhibits the oxidation of resins, tackifiers, and other components, preventing discoloration and thickening, and improving storage stability and bond durability.

6. Coatings and Inks:

Used in polyester powder coatings, industrial coatings, and inks to prevent oxidative yellowing during baking, curing, and storage, improving coating color stability and weather resistance. Suitable for coating applications in construction, home appliances, and automobiles.

7. Food Contact Materials:

Complies with FDA and other safety standards. Used in food contact grade plastics and packaging materials to inhibit thermo-oxidative degradation during processing and use, ensuring material safety and stability.

8. Synergistic effect of composite stabilizing system:

It is often combined with hindered phenolic primary antioxidants (such as 1010, 1076) and hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS) to construct a highly efficient antioxidant-weather-resistant system, suitable for outdoor weather-resistant products and polymer materials used for long-term high-temperature applications.
