CHLUMIAO® 245 Usage

Antioxidant 245 is mainly used in HIPS, ABS, MBS and other styrene polymers and POM, PA and other engineering thermoplastic resins for processing and long-term heat stabilization, but also in the PVC polymerization process as an effective chain terminator.

Antioxidant 245 is an asymmetric hindered phenolic antioxidant with good compatibility, low volatility, good thermal stability and high antioxidant efficiency. The antioxidant effect is significantly higher than that of general-purpose antioxidants of the same type, and when used with phosphate ester antioxidants and thioester antioxidants, it produces excellent synergistic effects. Suitable for AS resins, ABS resins, MBS resins, polyformaldehyde, polyamides, polyurethane, PVC, styrene butadiene latex, hydroxy butadiene rubber, high impact polystyrene. Used as a chain terminator for PVC polymerisation, does not affect the polymerisation reaction and can be added to the monomer prior to polymerisation. The general dosage is 0.1-0.5%.

Suitable for: high-impact polystyrene, ABS resin, AS resin, MBS resin, PVC, polyacetal, polyamide, polyurethane, etc. The dosage is 0.03%~1%. This product has a significant synergistic effect when used with thioether antioxidants or phosphorus containing antioxidants.

Antioxidant 245 Application scenarios

1. Styrene-based resin thermo-oxidative stabilizers:

Suitable for high-impact polystyrene (HIPS), ABS, AS, MBS, etc., preventing thermo-oxidative aging during processing and use, inhibiting yellowing, and maintaining the appearance and mechanical properties of products. Suitable for injection-molded/extruded products such as electronic casings and household appliance components. Can be added to monomers before polymerization.

2. Polyoxymethylene (POM) stabilizers:

Used in POM homopolymers and copolymers to inhibit thermo-oxidative degradation during high-temperature processing and long-term use, maintaining material rigidity and dimensional stability. Suitable for precision injection-molded parts such as gears, bearings, and electronic connectors.

3. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) related stabilizers:

Can be used as a chain terminator in PVC polymerization processes and also in PVC products to inhibit thermo-oxidative degradation during processing and use. Suitable for pipes, profiles, films, etc., improving material color stability and durability.

4. Long-lasting stability in engineering plastics:

Used in polyamides (PA6, PA66), thermoplastic polyesters (PET, PBT), etc., to prevent thermal degradation and discoloration during high-temperature processing, maintaining mechanical properties, suitable for automotive parts, electronic components, etc.

5. Polyurethane materials:

Suitable for RIM, TPU, spandex, polyurethane adhesives, sealants, etc., inhibiting oxidative aging during synthesis, processing, and use, improving material elasticity and durability, suitable for footwear materials, seals, elastic fibers, etc.

6. Elastomers and rubber products:

Used in hydroxylated styrene-butadiene rubber, styrene-butadiene latex, EPDM, and other elastomers and synthetic rubbers, preventing oxidative aging during processing, storage, and use, suitable for hoses, seals, latex products, etc., with good extraction resistance.

7. Adhesives and Sealants:

Used as an antioxidant additive in hot melt adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, structural adhesives, and sealants to inhibit oxidation of resins and curing agents, preventing discoloration and thickening, and improving storage stability and bond durability.

8. Food Contact Materials:

Used in industrial coatings, powder coatings, and inks to prevent oxidative yellowing during baking, curing, and storage, improving coating color stability and weather resistance. Suitable for surface protection of coated parts in construction, home appliances, and automobiles.

10. Synergistic Effects in Composite Stabilizing Systems:

Often combined with sulfide-based and phosphite-based auxiliary antioxidants and hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS) to construct highly efficient antioxidant-weather-resistant systems, suitable for outdoor weather-resistant products and long-term used polymer materials.
