CHLUMIAT®catalyst BCAT-T100R/Reactive organobismuth catalyst BCAT-T100R

BCAT-T100R is a reactive high-boiling-point organic bismuth catalyst with typical characteristics of organic bismuth catalysts. Because its molecular structure contains reactive groups, it can be grafted into the polyurethane polymer chain during the catalytic reaction of polyurethane. It does not exist as a free small molecule in polyurethane products, does not migrate, and does not affect the aging properties, TVOC, etc. of the products.

Description of characteristics

Amber to brown transparent liquid with a color (Fe-Co) ≤15; density 1.103±0.02 g/cm³ (25℃); viscosity 12000±3000 mPa.s (25℃); slightly odorous; soluble in common polyurethane raw materials such as polyether, polyester polyol, and plasticizers. Free of restricted heavy metals and VOCs, complying with stringent domestic and international environmental regulations.

Unique Performance

BCAT-T100R is a reactive, high-boiling-point organobismuth catalyst with typical characteristics of organobismuth catalysts. Due to the presence of reactive groups in its molecular structure, it can graft onto polyurethane polymer chains during polyurethane reactions. It does not exist as a free small molecule in polyurethane products, does not migrate, and does not affect the aging properties or TVOC levels of the products. Specifically:

⚫ Contains bismuth metal, exhibiting typical characteristics of organobismuth catalysts. Promotes the NCO/OH reaction, and to some extent reduces the side reactions of water and NCO groups, thus reducing CO2 generation.

⚫ Used in prepolymer synthesis, it promotes complete reaction and effectively reduces free isocyanate content.

⚫ Polyurethane prepolymers synthesized with T100R exhibit significantly better storage stability than those synthesized with organotin catalysts. This is due to T100R’s insensitivity to moisture; during storage, it does not promote further reactions between trace amounts of moisture and isocyanates, effectively avoiding or reducing phenomena such as swelling and crusting.

⚫ Reactive: The molecular structure contains a small amount of active hydrogen groups, which can react with NCO groups to become part of the polyurethane polymer chain. It does not migrate or contribute VOCs or TVOCs, making the products more environmentally friendly.

⚫ Good compatibility: It can be used alone or in combination with other organometallic compounds.

⚫ Hydrolysis resistance: Its hydrolytic stability is significantly better than that of ordinary organobismuth catalysts.

Usage Instructions

Used in the polyurethane industry and widely applied in CASE (Continuous Application of Materials) fields.

For polyurethane prepolymer synthesis, the typical addition amount is 0.02-0.1%. For TDI/MDI type prepolymers, it is recommended to add it later in the reaction to promote a more complete reaction.

For aliphatic isocyanate prepolymers, it is recommended to add it early in the reaction to improve the isocyanate reactivity.

For two-component polyurethane materials, it is recommended to add it to the B component, typically at 0.2-0.5% (based on the B component), following the principle of less in summer and more in winter.

After normal use, the container must be sealed immediately to avoid leaving it open.

 Storage Specifications

HDPE plastic drums, 25/200kg/drum. Store in a dry, cool warehouse, away from direct sunlight and rain. Unopened shelf life: 18 months.
