CHLUMIAT®catalyst CUCAT-SW10A/Polyurethane screen replaces mercury-based environmentally friendly catalyst CUCAT-SW10A

CUCAT-SW10A is an environmentally friendly catalyst specifically developed for medium- and high-temperature curing systems involving MDI, polyester polyols, and small-molecule alcohols. It features long operating time, low initial viscosity during material mixing, and rapid demolding, exhibiting catalytic characteristics similar to organomercury catalysts—slow at the beginning and fast later, with no bubbles.

Storage Specifications

Packaging specifications: 25/200kg/drum. Store in a dry, cool warehouse, away from direct sunlight and rain. Unopened shelf life is 18 months. Darkening of color during storage is normal and does not affect catalytic activity. If the gel permeation curve remains unchanged after the expiration date, it can still be used normally.

It does not contain eight heavy metals, azo dyes, phthalic plasticizers, or other environmentally restricted ingredients, and complies with general industrial environmental regulations.

Unique Performance

CUCAT-SW10A is an environmentally friendly catalyst specifically developed for medium- and high-temperature curing systems of MDI + polyester polyol + small molecule alcohol chain extension. It features long operating time, low initial viscosity during material mixing, and rapid demolding, similar to the catalytic characteristics of organomercury compounds (slow at the beginning, fast at the end, and bubble-free). Specifically:

  • It is a non-organomercury-lead catalyst, environmentally friendly and harmless.
  • It is insensitive to trace amounts of moisture and does not foam. Its unique targeted catalytic properties effectively prevent the reaction of trace amounts of moisture in raw materials/substrate/air with isocyanates, avoiding the generation of CO2 bubbles.
  • It provides ample flow time, resulting in rapid curing and fast demolding in the later stages. The initial catalytic activity is mild, with minimal initial viscosity increase, good flowability, and rapid filling of mold cavities, meeting the filling requirements of complex cavities, especially suitable for filling materials in fine grid areas of screens. As the heat of reaction gradually accumulates, the activity increases in the later stages, achieving the process requirements for rapid demolding.
  • It has low temperature sensitivity, improving curing uniformity. This design overcomes the drawbacks of conventional catalysts, where thicker areas solidify first, or thinner layers exhibit slower curing due to gel lag at lower temperatures. This characteristic is similar to that of organomercury catalysts.
  • The resulting products exhibit excellent molding properties. It demonstrates high targeted catalytic activity towards hydroxyl and NCO groups, resulting in excellent molding mechanical properties comparable to those of organomercury catalysts, and similar to imported SD catalysts.

This product is developed for the production of polyurethane elastomers using a three-component (A/B, I/P) process for MDI+polyester polyol systems, employing either a prepolymer or semi-prepolymer method. It utilizes small molecule alcohols such as butanediol (BDO) and ethylene glycol (EG) to cure polyurethane elastomers. The product is intended for use in the production of polyurethane screens, rollers, and rubber rollers, and is particularly recommended for the production of MDI polyester system screens, especially high-frequency tension screens.

Usage Instructions

When using, add the polyol (P component), preferably after vacuum degassing, and stir well. On-site use during production is recommended. Adding isocyanate (ISO, I component) is not recommended due to the risk of gelation in the container. The dosage depends on the formulation and process, generally 0.05–0.5% of the P component’s weight. During normal use, ensure that the cups or other containers used to hold this product are clean and dry, and seal the container immediately after use to avoid leaving it open.
