Unique Properties
WCAT-S12 is a general-purpose organotin catalyst with the following properties:
High catalytic activity. It exhibits the typical characteristics of organotin catalysts, effectively catalyzing the reaction between substances containing active hydrogen (such as hydroxyl groups and water) and isocyanate groups. It is relatively sensitive to moisture and does not exhibit pronounced targeted catalytic properties, making it suitable for use as a general-purpose catalyst in various polyurethane reactions. If a catalyst with stronger targeted catalytic activity is required, the Yourun CUCAT series of catalysts can be selected.
Thermally active and temperature-sensitive. As a conventional catalyst for moisture-curing polyurethanes, Organic Tin S12 exhibits high catalytic activity under high outdoor temperatures in summer, resulting in rapid surface drying of the material. However, its catalytic activity decreases significantly in low-temperature environments during winter. If a catalyst with higher low-temperature activity is required, products such as Yourun WCAT-WS13A can be selected.
Moderate compatibility. The conventional organic tin catalyst S12 exhibits good compatibility with amine catalysts but has poor compatibility with other metal catalysts, often leading to precipitation and deactivation. For superior compatibility, consider using Yourun’s high-efficiency organic tin catalyst CUCAT-S05.
Application Areas
Widely used in various polyurethane applications, such as polyurethane coatings, adhesives, one- and two-component sealants, elastomers, and foams.
Instructions for Use
It is recommended to add this catalyst to the polyol (P component) mixture and stir thoroughly. It may also be added to the isocyanate (ISO, I component) mixture; while generally safe, the risk of gelation in the container cannot be completely ruled out due to factors such as packaging or formulation. Please conduct a compatibility test beforehand. The dosage depends on the formulation and process, but generally ranges from 0.01% to 0.3% of the total resin weight. Since environmental requirements vary depending on the product’s application, end users are advised to conduct actual testing in accordance with relevant environmental standards.
