Poly(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate Usage
1. Polyethylene glycol series products can be used in medicine. Polyethylene glycol with relatively low molecular weight can be used as a solvent, cosolvent, O/W type emulsifier and stabilizer, used to make cement suspensions, emulsions, injections, etc., and also used as a water-soluble ointment base and suppository base. The product characteristics of polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate are characterized by low viscosity, no corrosion, low vapor pressure, fast curing and so on. It can be used as a crosslinking agent for rubber and plastics; modifiers for rubber and synthetic resins; plastisol coatings; plastisols; anaerobic glues; fiber coatings; paper coatings; plastic coatings; photosensitive resins.
2. Prior art synthetic hydrogels are currently basically based on polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylic acid, and their derivatives, such as polyacrylamide or polyhydroxyethyl methacrylate, and polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinyl Pyrrolidone. Polyethylene glycol hydrogels can be prepared by the effect of high-energy radiation on polyethylene glycol aqueous solutions.
3. The electrophoresis gel is based on hydroxy esters, such as glycerol monomethacrylate, and a low proportion of polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate. However, protein migration in this polymethacrylate network is significantly slower than in polyacrylamide gels used so far.
4. Since polyethylene glycol chains with a glass transition temperature of about -50°C are very mobile, hydrogels with a high content of polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate should in principle be suitable for constructing very soft Hydrogel. Therefore, it is incomprehensible at the beginning that, for example, in the production of contact lens hydrogels, polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate is only used in a minor amount.
5. The observable limitation of small amounts of polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate in hydrogel formulations in many applications can be deduced from the polymerization behavior of polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate.

The polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate should be stored in a cool, ventilated warehouse, away from fire, heat sources, etc., avoid direct sunlight and the storage temperature should not exceed 20 ℃, keep the container tight, and prohibit contact with air.
